Learning Life's Skills

We live in such a fast paced world that children grow up learning Qwerty keyboard typing, how to blog, how to play DS games and how to text. They learn about the environment and how they're killing polar bears by simply 'being'. The government are convinced that the best way to combat teenage pregnancy is to teach children exactly how to become pregnant (even I can spot a flaw in that logic). And , of course, the media are so helpful in teaching children how to be image concious, what to spend their pocket money on to gain said image, and generously swamp them daily with glorifying examples from the edifying world of celebrities.

With that in mind, it's always a pleasure to see a child, particularly my own, learning a skill that might possibly be more helpful for her future adult years - in this case, the lost art of cooking. That's "home cooking" and not Michelin standard "ponce cooking" that we're told is better (see note above regarding media).

As you can see, she's already taking it very seriously, much to the approval of a proud Mrs gms.
